Sierra Wireless AirVantage™ M2M Cloud Platform helps Sprint M2M partners and customers create new connected device applications and services quickly and cost-effectively
Vancouver, Canada and Overland Park, Kan.-November 02, 2011

Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR) (TSX: SW) and Sprint (NYSE:S) today announced they are collaborating to help application developers, product manufacturers, and machine-to-machine (M2M) service providers get new solutions up and running on the Nationwide Sprint Network more quickly and cost-effectively. The two companies will co-market the Sierra Wireless AirVantage™ M2M Cloud Platform. Sprint M2M partners and customers can use the AirVantage cloud platform to develop, deploy, and manage all aspects of their M2M applications, including the operation of the communications device and connected products or machines.

“Sierra Wireless’ AirVantage Platform coupled with the recently launched Sprint Command Center Device Management Platform, allows customers greater control for M2M device and service management,” said Wayne Ward, vice president of Emerging Solutions Group, Sprint. “It paves the way for innovation in areas as varied as energy management, telematics, and mobile healthcare, which can all benefit from reliable, fast communication over the Sprint 4G and 3G networks.”

AirVantage becomes part of Sierra Wireless’ participation in the Sprint M2M Collaboration Center, which brings a wide range of M2M knowledge and capabilities directly to innovators in a working laboratory setting. Through this collaboration with Sierra Wireless, Sprint is able to help its customers realize a return on investment faster, by providing the M2M infrastructure, application development and deployment features customers have to create on their own today.

“For M2M to reach its potential and deliver benefits to the maximum number of industries and organizations, it needs to be simple to develop, deploy, and manage connected devices,” said Emmanuel Walckenaer, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Solutions and Services for Sierra Wireless. “AirVantage reduces the time, effort and cost involved in getting new, innovative, connected products and applications to market. We are excited to collaborate with Sprint and its M2M partners and customers.”
