With an integrated high-speed wireless link, the ASUS V2 notebook offers simple access to online media and information - no hotspot required
Vancouver, Canada-December 13, 2006

Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) today announced that ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS) has selected the company’s MC8775 embedded module to be integrated into the new ASUS V2 notebook computer. The MC8775 provides an integrated connection to 3G and HSDPA networks worldwide, offering customers a simple, reliable, built-in AirCard Enabled™ high-speed wireless link to keep them in touch with colleagues and clients while traveling.

“Sierra Wireless’s considerable experience in bringing a variety of platforms to market was a key factor in our selection,” said Alvin Chou, Product Manager of ASUS Notebook Business. “We wanted to ensure that our customers would find the 3G connectivity in our notebooks to be reliable and easy to use, so that they can count on getting access to the information they need.”

“Sierra Wireless is committed to offering OEM customers a diverse embedded module product line, as well as the support they need to get the best performance possible and make their AirCard Enabled products successful,” said Dan Schieler, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Sierra Wireless. “We are pleased to support ASUSTeK Computer as the company launches its first 3G wireless notebook.”

MC8775 PCI Express Mini Card for HSDPA/UMTS networks
The MC8775 PCI Express Mini Card embedded module supports all three HSDPA/UMTS frequency bands (850, 1900, and 2100 MHz) and all four EDGE/GPRS bands (850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz) used worldwide, allowing for seamless global roaming on the best available network. Out of the box, the MC8775 supports peak theoretical data rates up to 3.6 Mbps on HSDPA networks*, with the potential for future upgrades to provide support for peak data rates of up to 7.2 Mbps*. Advanced radio features reduce signal interference and deliver better data throughput – especially beneficial to users in urban areas, which often have high levels of signal noise.

The MC8775 module measures 51 x 30 x 4.5 mm, weighs in at less than 12 g, and complies with new European Union directives on RoHS (Restrictions on Hazardous Substances). It is PCI Express Mini Card form factor compliant, fully shielded and offers an operating temperature range of -30 to +60 degrees Celsius to suit all applications.
