Las Vegas, USA-April 05, 2006

Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) is collaborating with Lucent Technologies to demonstrate the capabilities of CDMA 1xEV-DO Revision A networks and devices at CTIA Wireless 2006, which begins today and runs until Friday, April 7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The technical demonstration, utilizing the Sierra Wireless AirCard 595 wireless wide area network card and the MC5725 PCI Express Mini Card embedded module integrated into a Lenovo ThinkPad notebook computer, is taking place at the Lucent booth (#1806).

“Working with Sierra Wireless, we are demonstrating how EV-DO Rev. A will significantly improve the performance of mobile high-speed data applications on CDMA2000 networks,” said Mary Chan, senior vice president of Mobility research and development for Lucent's Network Solutions Group.  “The increasing end user demand for a blended multimedia experience will drive more minutes of use on the EV-DO network, and the Rev A enhancements will enable the carriers to efficiently deliver these value-added services.”

“We are excited about the potential benefits of EV-DO Revision A for mobile professional customers, particularly for those who create or collect large amounts of data while working remotely and need to be able to efficiently send it to other mobile colleagues or their headquarters,” said Trent Punnett, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Development for Sierra Wireless. “Our collaboration with Lucent to test and demonstrate EV-DO Revision A is a significant step in ensuring that when our customers migrate to the new technology, they will be assured of the reliability and performance they have come to expect from Sierra Wireless products.”

EV-DO Revision A is an upgrade to current EV-DO networks that supports faster data rates and increased system capacity, offering peak data rates of up to 3.1 Megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and up to 1.8 Mbps on the uplink. The faster data rates, particularly on the uplink, will improve the user experience for those who need to send large files such as photos or graphics to colleagues or clients over their wireless data connection.

The AirCard 595, a Type II PC card, is the latest addition to Sierra Wireless’s award winning AirCard line of wireless wide area network cards for mobile computing. Scheduled for commercial shipment in the third quarter of 2006, the AirCard 595 will also be fully compatible with current EV-DO Release 0 and CDMA 1X networks, for use in areas where an EV-DO Revision A network is not yet available.

Designed to provide an integrated EV-DO Revision A connection for AirCard Enabled™ notebook computers and other mobile computing devices, the MC5725 is the newest embedded module from Sierra Wireless, which has more than 10 years’ experience in working with original equipment manufacturers to provide built-in wireless wide area network connectivity for a variety of devices and applications. Like the AirCard 595, the MC5725 will be backward compatible to provide seamless connections to current EV-DO and CDMA 1X networks.
