Wavecom Introduces Man Machine Interface Development Environment for products that Communicate

New Open AT® GTi - creating the "look" of M2M applications.
Issy-les-Moulineaux, France-March 06, 2006

Wavecom SA (NASDAQ: WVCM; Euronext Eurolist compartment B: AVM; ISIN: FR0000073066), a leader in pre-packaged wireless communications platforms for automotive, industrial (machine-to-machine) and mobile professional applications, today announced the introduction of a new software development platform, Open AT® GTi.

Open AT® GTi is an innovative development platform that enables developers of wireless devices to create customized, display-centric products. Recognizing that differentiating products quickly and at the same time keeping costs down are key success factors for our customers, Wavecom has built Open AT® GTi on four cornerstone elements:

1.     RapidPLUS® a proven, user-friendly development environment from Wavecom’s partner eSIM Ltd. allowing for quick application building and customization, computer testing and automatic code generation;

2.     A industrial reference application to get started quickly;

3.     A wide range of Wavecom’s wireless CPUs to choose from;

4.     Professional training services and technical support to ease development.

Wavecom’s unique Open AT® GTi technology is the result of an evolution of more than 10-years development in the automotive and M2M sectors. Built around a very strong state machine, based on e-SIM’s technology, Open AT® GTi can be used for developing a wide variety of graphics elements which might include drawing charts, creatively displaying data, incorporating animations, photos or videos, in applications as diverse as health monitors, home security systems, and automobile telematics. Through its dedicated tools, it is easy to change the application logic, the layout of a display, adapt text and graphic resources, or even add a new language.

As an example, a vending machine manufacturer wanting to address new geographical markets, may use Open AT® GTi to very quickly add the language of the areas targeted and adapt to the local culture visually.

By employing e-SIM’s market-proven MMI technology, already widely used in the mobile handset and automotive markets, development and customization of Open AT® GTi-based products becomes easy and fast, allowing maximum flexibility at minimum risk.

In brief, Open AT® GTi simplifies a very complex process and unlocks the real potential of creative companies who want to quickly differentiate their products by providing display layout flexibility and allowing for other graphic elements like color images to be incorporated.

Jamie Garroch, Product Marketing Director at Wavecom, commented: “We’re very glad to be the first M2M provider to market graphics features. Open A GTi, available this month, will provide our customers with increased flexibility and quick time to market, thus enabling them to spend their resources on marketable value”.
