Wavecom is joining forces with Datecs to connect cash registers to the Serbian Ministry of Finance
Issy-les-Moulineaux, France -November 22, 2005
Wavecom SA (NASDAQ: WVCM; Euronext Paris (Eurolist): AVM; ISIN: FR0000073066), a major firm on the market for integrated wireless communication solutions for automobiles, industry and mobile professional applications, is joining forces with Datecs for a reply to a call for tenders from the Serbian Ministry of Finance. Datecs is a Bulgarian producer that develops hardware and software solutions for money and measuring applications including cash registers, taximeters and scales.

The Wavecom and Datecs contract, which began during the first quarter of 2005, is in response to the new law passed by the Serbian government, under which all cash registers should be directly linked to the tax authorities.

The application developed jointly by the two firms makes it possible to transmit all tax reports to the Ministry of Finance, via GPRS, using the IP stack FTP protocol embedded in the Wavecom module. The module, which has a modem function, dialogues with the cash register and sends real time data from sales outlets to the tax authorities.

The application should rapidly evolve to eliminate the external processor and memory. The software developed by Datecs on the external microprocessor will be integrated into the module thanks to Open AT. Tax data will be stored in the module's memory.
