Sierra Wireless to provide EM5625 embedded module for MobileAria's new wireless fleet management product

Embedded module will provide CDMA 1xEV-DO and 1X connectivity from MobileWiFi device, turning fleet vehicles into "dynamic hot spots"
Vancouver, B.C.-June 28, 2005

Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) today announced that MobileAria, a subsidiary of Delphi Corporation (NYSE: DPH), has selected the Sierra Wireless EM5625 embedded module to provide CDMA 1xEV-DO connectivity for its MobileWiFi Vehicle Tracking and Control Unit (VTCU).

The dual-band Sierra Wireless EM5625 embedded module provides a powerful, reliable, wireless engine that can be integrated into a wide variety of mobile devices and offers voice, data, and messaging functionality at typical data speeds of 400-700 kbps, with bursts up to 2.4 Mbps. Additional features of the EM5625 module include enhanced power management to optimize battery life, as well as gpsOne™ capability, which complies with E911 requirements for emergency location. Sierra Wireless also offers a comprehensive suite of integration services for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including a Universal Development Kit to simplify the integration process and accelerate time-to-market. The EM5625 complies with new European Union directives on RoHS (Restrictions on Hazardous Substances).

"MobileAria's MobileWiFi modem demonstrates how 3G wireless technologies can help businesses deliver better service to their customers while also streamlining operations," said Dan Schieler, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Sierra Wireless. "We are pleased to work with MobileAria to offer these benefits to their customers."

MobileAria is a leading provider of fleet management and security services for mobile transportation platforms, enabling transportation companies to remotely monitor the location, condition, and security of ground-based transport vehicles. The MobileWiFi VTCU converts fleet vehicles into "dynamic hot spots," allowing vehicle operators and service technicians to use WiFi to connect to the MobileWiFi modem. The VTCU is, in turn, connected to the Internet or corporate intranets through the EM5625 embedded module to a CDMA 1X or 1xEV-DO cellular network whenever a vehicle is within the coverage area of a cellular network. Service technicians can access real-time corporate and internet information through the dynamic hot spot and provide instant customer feedback, empowering them to take critical service decisions and resolve customer issues faster. The device also uses the cellular connection to send real-time tracking and trip information directly to fleet operators, enabling more efficient asset management and better dispatching for more responsive customer service.
