Alliant Networks To Use Wavecom Technology for Wireless Machine-to-Machine and Mobile LAN Solutions

Las Vegas, USA-October 22, 2003

Wavecom Inc., the US subsidiary of Wavecom SA (NASDAQ: WVCM; Euronext: AVM; ISIN: FR0000073066) and Alliant Networks, Inc., a developer of wireless network access equipment, announced today that the two companies have joined efforts to bring machine-to-machine solutions for the remote and mobile LAN access markets. Under the terms of this collaboration, Wavecom will provide Alliant with GSM and CDMA wireless technology for integration in its cellular gateway offerings. Based on Wavecom’s WISMO Quik Q2426 module for GSM/GPRS communications and the WISMO Quik Q2438 module for CDMA connectivity, Alliant will develop and launch products for the mobile LAN and machine-to-machine (M2M) markets. Wavecom will assist Alliant in marketing the WISMO-based offerings.

Alliant’s cellular gateway offerings bring network connectivity to man and machine using standard Ethernet (802.3) and WI-FI (802.11G) networking interfaces, combined with high-speed serial and discrete I/O for machine-specific interfaces. The cellular gateway’s high level of integration combines the convenience of standard networking interfaces with the flexibility and coverage of today’s cellular networks in a single device.

“Wavecom is delighted to team up with Alliant to bring innovative new solutions to the M2M market”, said David McCartney, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Wavecom Inc. “Alliant’s wireless WAN and control point solutions target growing markets worldwide and combine the best in proprietary network access technology with Wavecom?s market-leading WISMO-based wireless offerings.”

“We are very excited about our partnership with Wavecom. They have excellent technology; it allows us to support both GSM and CDMA with minimal effort. Alliant and Wavecom also share a common vision with regard to the potential of the emerging M2M market,” said James C. Slater, President and CEO of Alliant Networks, Inc.
