Wavecom appoints Managing Director for Asia Pacific subsidiary

Wavecom SA (Nasdaq: WVCM; Euronext Nouveau Marché: 7306) announces the appointment of Didier Dutronc as Managing Director of its Hong Kong-based subsidiary Wavecom Asia Pacific Limited. Mr Dutronc will be responsible for developing Wavecom’s business in Asia, where the priority objectives are sales growth and the development of relations with Asian customers.

Didier Dutronc, 43, graduated in electrical engineering from ESME in Paris and holds an MBA from IAE in Paris. Throughout his career he has developed proven sales, marketing and management skills in multicultural international environments, with an emphasis on high-tech markets.

He began his career in 1983 with Analog Devices in Paris, then joined Texas Instruments for a ten-year spell in 1987, starting as European sales manager for government and space, then moving on to take charge of distribution, sales and marketing for the Middle East and Africa in 1994.

In 1997, Mr Dutronc joined Alcatel Optronics as Worldwide VP Sales and Marketing, with a seat on the board of directors. Here, he implemented an effective strategy for the development of customer relations worldwide, and particularly in Asia. In 2000, he was appointed President and CEO of the subsidiary Alcatel Optronics Inc, in Dallas, Texas.

Wavecom has subsidiaries in Hong Kong (China) and Seoul (Korea), and offices in Beijing (China), Tokyo (Japan) and Taipei (Taiwan). The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 82.2% of Wavecom sales in 2002.
