Wavecom Launches MUSE Platform Partnership Program

New Program To Support Wireless Applications Developer Community.
Issy-les-Moulineaux, France-March 12, 2002

Wavecom SA (Nasdaq: WVCM; Nouveau Marché: 7306), a leading developer of digital wireless standard modules (WISMO®), today announced the launch of the MUSE Platform Partnership Program. The Program aims to build and support a new wireless application developer community around the company’s Modular User Software Environment Platform (MUSE Platform™), and is targeted at software developers and integrators working within the wireless application space worldwide.

The MUSE Platform, an open software environment, was introduced to enable wireless applications developers to take advantage of the fast-growing markets for GSM and GPRS products. Because developers can embed their applications directly onto Wavecom’s WISMO modules and modems, there is no need for extra circuit boards or components. Development costs and time are reduced, and new products get to market faster.

Wavecom intends the new MUSE Platform Partnership Program to create a worldwide ‘pool’ of application development resources on which Wavecom customers can draw. An online catalogue of applications will be available at www.wavecom.com.

The first product available in the MUSE Platform is Open AT, designed for vertical applications such as telemetric, automotive and multimedia systems. Companies that have already qualified as Open AT Partners in the MUSE Platform Partnership Program include:

o Erco & Gener, France – telecoms development and manufacturing

o Kern, Hungary – telecoms network design and maintenance

o Kitron Development, Norway – electronics and mechatronics equipment development

o Unibell (Pty) Ltd., South Africa – telematics solutions development

o Unitronic, Germany – telematic & telemetry components design and distribution

o Wireless Object, France – man-machine interfaces and vertical embedded wireless solutions development

By joining the program, the Partners enjoy significant benefits, including access to a software application sales channel to Wavecom customers; the full availability of Wavecom’s technology and expertise; and involvement in the Open AT developers community. To maintain control of application and service quality, Wavecom accepts as partners only developers that reach the standards that its customers have come to expect.

Aram Hékimian, Wavecom CEO, commenting on the launch of the Partnership Program, said: “The MUSE Platform Partnership Program marks an important stage in the development of Wavecom’s product offering. MUSE Platform is already proving popular amongst the application development community, and we want to ensure that we provide developers using the platform with our full service and support. Application developers who become partners will enjoy a multitude of marketing and technical benefits, helping them to ‘raise the bar’ of their expertise still further. And of course, the work of this highly focused and multi-skilled development community will also give tremendous benefits to our customers by extending the range of potential applications open to them.”
