What’s New with mangOH Red: LPWA, Upgraded User Experience and Developer Resources

mangOH™ Red, our open source hardware platform for the industrial IoT, was announced at the 2016 Innovation Summit with a renewed focus on application enablement. Since then, we’ve had tremendous feedback from our developer community through the mangOH developer forum and on interactive Google Hangouts. Here’s an update on the latest features and resources.

mangOH Red Enablement Platform for Low-Power Industrial IoT Applications

Smaller than a credit card, mangOH Red is the most feature-rich, lowest power, open source enablement platform for cellular applications on the market. You can connect with 2G, 3G and 4G networks anywhere in the world or use mangOH Red’s built-in wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity. mangOH Red delivers 90% of a prototype out-of-the-box, so developers can easily work with any wired, wireless or sensor technology based on their unique IoT use case, making it simpler and more cost-effective to turn ideas into prototypes and prototypes into products.

Targeted at the industrial IoT and maker communities, the mangOH ecosystem uses vetted, industrial-grade components. Plus, all mangOH boards include an open source industrial connector to plug-in any IoT Expansion Card and remove the complexity of adding more wired, wireless and sensor technologies to your application. mangOH Red is fully-integrated with our Legato® open source Linux software platform, Smart SIM and AirVantage® IoT Platform to deliver sensor data to the cloud.

What’s New with mangOH Red

mangOH Red kits with global Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) modules will be available in April. LPWA technologies (LTE-M, NB-IoT) combine lower cost, broader coverage and better battery life with globally available and secure cellular networks. The LPWA mangOH Red will dramatically reduce the complexity and time it takes to develop LTE-M and NB-IoT products and services. Since LPWA is ideal for tracking applications, we’re publishing open source firmware and other resources; there’s no need to start from scratch.

In addition to global LTE-M, NB-IoT and existing 3G coverage, we’re also rolling out 4G LTE Cat-1 and Cat-4 variants, as well as a seamless registration process for activating SIMs on mangoh.io, so your kit is pre-programmed and ready to go, right out of the box. Once you receive your kit, simply visit mangOH.io and register for an AirVantage account to start sensor-to-cloud development.
