Sierra Wireless Adds to USB Modem Product Line

New Apex™ 880 USB Modem offers innovative design and features to enhance usability
Vancouver, B.C.-November 05, 2007

Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) today introduced the newest addition to its USB modem product line, the Apex™ 880 USB modem. Smaller than previous models and sporting a new, innovative design and features, the Apex 880 USB modem is expected to be available for shipping in January, 2008.

“We’ve experienced outstanding success with our USB product line since we launched it earlier this year,” said Trent Punnett, senior vice president, Marketing and Corporate Development. “But we understand that continued success with this product line requires ongoing innovation that offers customers more functionality and more value. We’ve designed the Apex 880 USB modem to deliver that, with remarkable simplicity and flexibility built into the user experience, a more streamlined appearance, and the latest in high-speed wireless technology with global roaming capability.”

The Apex 880 is designed to provide a high-performance, reliable wireless connection with the most flexible usage options available. The rotating connector hinge accommodates both horizontally and vertically oriented USB ports. In addition, a laptop clip and USB extension cable is included for those who would prefer to attach the modem to the top of the screen for improved reception or easier use.

To simplify setup and configuration, the Apex 880 also offers TRU-Install™, a seamless installation experience that requires no CD – just plug the modem into the computer’s USB slot and the drivers and client software will be installed directly from the modem itself.

The Apex 880 USB modem supports the latest HSUPA network technology, offering theoretical maximum data speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps (megabits per second) on the downlink, and up to 2.0 Mbps on the uplink. It offers tri-band HSPA/UMTS connectivity (850/1900/2100 MHz) and quad-band EDGE/GPRS connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) for use worldwide, making it a valuable tool for international travelers.
