AirCard 300: How to Remove Auto Launching Watcher in PPC 2002

Symptoms

When inserting the Sierra Wireless AirCard 300 into the iPAQ Pocket PC (PPC) 2002 Sierra Wireless AirCard Watcher program automatically launches.

Resolution

IMPORTANT: This document contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, ensure that you understand the implications of editing the registry. Currently Compaq and Microsoft do not include a registry editor program for this platform. You will require a third party registry tool, of which there are many on the web and Sierra Wireless does not support or endorse.

In order to prevent the Watcher from starting every time the card is inserted follow the following steps:

1) Acquire a registry editing tool that allows you to brose all hives and delete entries.
2) Navigate to the following location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sierra Wireless\AirCardCE
3) Select the above mentioned Folder
4) In this folder there should be only one KEY which is a String Value titled ?Launch?
5) Select the key and delete it.
6) Soft Reset the iPAQ and the changes will take affect.
