Windows 2000 - Can not communicate with AirCard® 300

This document covers the following products:
AirCard 300 and AirCard 350
Software revision 1.1.1
Computers with NICs (Network Interface Cards)

Symptoms

After installing software under Windows 2000, Watcher, Wireless Toolkit and Wireless Expert will not run. The following message will be displayed on the screen

Cannot Communicate with AirCard
  1. Close Watcher if it is running.
  2. Make sure that AirCard is inserted and working properly.
  3. Then run WirelessExpert again to configure the card.
Resolution

Windows 2000 will always use the fastest available connection. If the NIC is connected via the LAN to the Internet, this will be the fastest available connection. Thus Widows 2000 will have the NIC enabled and the AirCard will be disabled.

If the NIC is physically unplugged from the network, then after a few seconds the AirCard will be enabled and the Sierra Wireless software will be able to run.
