Description
Watcher is a program for monitoring the status while on the CDPD network connection.
The “LED” button located in the top left corner of the Watcher window (beneath the word “file”) indicates the Registration status of the CDPD device. This button indicates the following registration/ transmission status:
| Green: | Indicates that the device is registered on the CDPD network. |
| Red: | Indicates that the device is not registered. |
| Red Flashing: | During the registration process, the button flashes . |
Clicking on the button will cause the device to de-register, which will then remain in this state until the button is clicked again to re-register.
The Signal Strength is displayed to the right of the "LED" button that indicates the registration status. The signal strength is displayed in two ways: as a thermometer bar, and in dBm (decibels relative to milliwatts). Note that the closer the Signal strength value (in dBm) is to 0, the stronger the signal. Values larger than –70 are excellent, while values less than –100 are poor. The color and length of the thermometer bar indicates the signal strength and transmission status:
| Red, short bar: | Poor signal strength and unregistered |
| Yellow bar: | Moderate signal strength |
| Long, green bar: | Strong signal and registered on the network |
