Note that these instructions are applicable to the MP 775 GPS modem and  MP 555 GPS modem only.

First make sure the modem is running firmware supporting the GPS update feature. The GPS update feature was introduced in the following firmware releases:
                - MP 775 firmware R3.1.12 
                - MP 555 firmware R2.3.2

You can check the version of the GPS firmware using the following AT command: 
      at!mpgpsdata?
      ...
      Product: VR Lassen iQ
      Major Version:  VERSION 01.16 (02/02/06)
      ...

The latest version of the Trimble Lassen iQ GPS firmware is 1.16


Updating the GPS firmware using an USB cable

1 - Connect an USB cable from your PC to your MP modem

2 - Run the MP_Trimble_Lassen_iQ_GPS_FW_1.16.exe file

3 - The update starts automatically. It takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. Wait until you see the message "Upgrade completed successfully"



Updating the GPS firmware using a Serial cable

1 - Download and unzip the MP_Trimble_Lassen_iQ_GPS_FW_1.16.zip file

2 - Connect a serial cable from your PC to your MP modem (make sure the USB cable is disconnected)

3 - Run the script MP_UPD_GPS.cmd and wait for completion:
It takes approximately 3 minutes to complete the upgrade, including 30 seconds to download the firmware to the modem  then more than 2 minutes to re-program the GPS module. You will see the LEDs flashing in sequence during this last step. Wait until the LEDs become solid again.



Updating the GPS firmware using MP Modem Manager
