AirCard® 300/350 installation for Compaq iPaq Pocket PC

This document explains the installation of driver software for the Compaq iPaq Pocket PC.

Resolution

1. Ensure that the iPaq Pocket PC is in the cradle.

2. Also ensure that ActiveSync is installed when running the software installation. ActiveSync can be downloaded from Microsoft at the following URL: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp

3. Go to the following URL:
http://www.sierrawireless.com/support/ac300ppc101.aspx

4. Download the following file: R.1.0.1: (July 2000) First Support for the Pocket PC.

5. Once downloaded, double-click on the downloaded file AC300-PPC-101.EXE. This will extract the installation file archive to a temporary folder on the hard-drive (i.e. C:\AC300PPC).

6. Go into this temporary folder with the extracted files and run setup.exe to begin the installation of the Watcher software.

7. Proceed with the software installation until completion. Then remove the iPaq from the cradle.

8. Insert the AirCard 300 into the iPaq and perform a soft reset on the iPaq by inserting a paperclip or pin into the hole on the bottom right-hand side of the unit. (Note: Do NOT depress the button on the bottom left-hand side of the unit (with the cover), as this will perform a hard reset)

9. After the boot up sequence, start up Wireless Expert and proceed with configuring for the CDPD network.
