Prumaro Expands its Reach to Customers with AirLink Gateways

Founded in 2006 and based in Slovenia, Prumaro has developed an advanced market concept and software for managing complex digital signage networks under its GEM Interactive brand.

Challenges

The GEM Interactive system is a digital signage solution for public transportation, including content display triggered by location and the possibility of user interaction via mobile phone. While developing its breakthrough multimedia system, Prumaro experienced problems with unstable wireless communications using HSDPA modems.

Prumaro also wanted to establish secondary control over its hardware in the field so that unused or faulty equipment could be powered off remotely. In order to achieve reliable wireless connectivity and remote management, Prumaro knew it would need to upgrade to a more intelligent modem alternative.

Solution

Prumaro tested solutions from three leading vendors before selecting the Sierra Wireless AirLink™ Pinpoint X communications gateway. Utilizing reliable 3G broadband communications, the GEM Interactive digital signage application provides advertisers the ability to present extremely localized promotional content in real-time to transit passengers and pedestrians, who can interact with the targeted display system directly or via SMS.

Prumaro uses AirLink Device Management tools as its secondary resource for remote diagnostics and utilizes relay outputs to re-start field hardware through the PinPoint X gateways, currently deployed in 120 public buses and 70 kiosks throughout Slovenia’s bustling capital of Ljubljana.
