Netcomm routers powered by Sierra Wireless AirPrime modules
Netcomm Limited supplies home, small office, business, government, and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) with broadband Internet products and services.
Challenges
NetComm provides its innovative communications solutions to large distributors. The company holds a commanding position in the key markets of digital subscriber line (DSL), high-speed networking, wireless routers, VoIP, and HSUPA technologies.
Telstra Corporation Limited, Australia's leading telecommunications company and one of the best known brands in the country, approached NetComm to design wireless gateways for business and consumer use.
NetComm wanted to provide Telstra with gateway solutions that would serve the needs of the large remote community of consumers and businesses that make-up the Australian economy.
Solution
The mobility of 3G wireless connectivity addresses the need for a portable or temporary communications solution. NetComm’s wireless gateways for Telstra can benefit temporary construction sites, auditors working for long periods at customer sites, retailers in need of quick or temporary working point-of-sale (POS) terminals, and renters wanting access to the Internet without waiting six to eight weeks for a visit from their telecommunications provider
Home users who do not live within traditional broadband technology coverage areas are also able to connect to the Internet at broadband speeds. Small business and enterprise users can instantly connect to their Intranet wherever they may be traveling or working off-site.
The Telstra Turbo 7 Series Wireless Gateway and BigPond 7.2 Home Network Gateway – developed by NetComm and Sierra Wireless provide the following benefits:
• 3G connectivity to both consumers and businesses outside the reach of traditional broadband technologies
• Unprecedented 3G data transfer speeds
• Flexible, secure access to corporate networks and Intranets from remote locations
• Quick Internet access and portability for temporary locations where a landline or alternative connection is not available
